BSB Design

BSB Design offers design and drafting services for a variety of clients, including major builders such as Meritage Homes, DR Horton, and AV Homes. My work was in single-family residential where I drafted SD, DD, and CDs in AutoCAD 2014. I would develop plans, elevations, and sections to the BSB Design standard, and through communication with with the project manager, ensure that the clients wants and needs were met for the target market. Markets varied from Florida, Texas, the Carolinas, as well as the more northern climates of Denver and Chicago. It was great experience in efficiency, consistency, and becoming sharp with drafting tools. The images below are just a few samples of work (property of BSB Design) that I have colorized.

Community Design Lab

My time at the Community Design Lab, an arm of Iowa State’s Institute for Design Research and Outreach (IDRO), helped me develop important perspectives on stakeholder engagement and incorporating public data to produce strategic design directions for communities at multiple scales. It challenged my perspective on quantification, and helped me understand the complexity in the valuation of public goods. I also recognized many of the connections between development and interventions with positive and negative externalities. Part of my work involved the investigation of a toolkit for communities, involving GIS mapping, surveys, values based decision making, and life cycle analysis.
